Create Real Time Segment Rules

After creating a segment, you can create rule sets to refine the segment, including drag-on rules (Drag-on rules must be enabled in the parent segment). Individual rules are categorized by Attributes, Behaviors, Existing Segments, and Predictive Scores. Unlike batch segments, you are not able to access Funnels and A/B Testing. Additionally, you cannot create activations from a real-time segment.

Creating Rules

  1. Open TD Console.

  1. Navigate to Audience Studio and select the segment for which you want to create rules.

  1. Select Edit segment rules.

  1. Rules are listed in the right-side menu by category. Select the sort icon to sort attributes and behaviors alphabetically.
  2. To add a rule, click or drag it into the ruleset space.

  1. For each attribute or behavior rule you add, select the operator (i.e. =is) from the dropdown and edit the values (i.e. 25).

Real-time segments do not have all of the operators and aggregate types available in batch segments.
The following are not available:

  • Operators- IsNull, Regexp, EndWith, TimeRange
  • Aggregation type- CountDistinct, Average
  • Calculation (min, max, sum) and Order (first, last) don't support grouping columns or order by columns
  1. Add additional rules (up to 26) and apply one or multiple rules using all or any match logic.

You can only select real-time behaviors coming from the JS SDK and must set up a Profiles API Token to track those in your real-time segment.You must set the Time frame "within" value to greater than zero.

  1. After finishing setting up your rules, select Save.
  2. Next, set up your Profiles API Token.
