A list-unsubscribe header is an email header field that provides recipients with an easy way to opt out of future emails. It typically appears as an "Unsubscribe" link or button in the email client's interface, separate from the email content. ![BlockNote image](https://lh7-rt.googleusercontent.com/docsz/AD_4nXd4kF4x8RLZaAyqG-JAcGMLM2zpRvGKyswhIm6PvXvBLD0TxC4Ve_kkgICaVzTV1Y7pToc730xaXO6bmOM5i9xcY8EO_ftNKcZruGzRb4i4E0bfNzZvzSl4grqXixy8EV3lUoxP?key=1jCrFnMRMotq_NGLKSERAw) ### Why is it Important? Starting February 2024, Google and Yahoo began requiring that all bulk marketing emails support a one-click list-unsubscribe header. This requirement helps ensure better user experience, improved inbox placement, and compliance with modern email regulations. ## Setting Up Unsubscribe in Engage Studio ### Option 1: Use Two-Steps Unsubscribe URL This option allows for a manual opt-out process through a landing page. **Steps:** 1. Create and publish an opt-out landing page * **Current Limitation:** Landing page hosting feature will be coming later. For now, use 3rd party service capabilities such OneTrust, etc. 2. Include the link in the email body and in the **Unsubscribe URL** field of the sender profile **Examples:** * `mailto:unsub@example.com` * `https://example.com/unsubscribe?email={{profile.email | url_encode}}&type=mailmagazine` * Or use both Include the recipient’s email (`{{profile.emailemail}}`) in the URL to uniquely identify them. ### Option 2: Use a One-click Unsubscribe URL This option is designed for users with their own custom unsubscribe endpoint. **Requirements:** * The URL must handle `POST` unsubscribe requests * It must begin with `https://` * POST requests must not rely on cookies **Steps:** 1. Navigate to the **Sender Configuration > Unsubscribe Header** section 2. Enable the toggle for List-Unsubscribe Header 3. Enter your one-click `POST` unsubscribe endpoint URL 4. Optionally add a `mailto:` fallback address **Example header generated:** * `List-Unsubscribe-Post: List-Unsubscribe=One-Click List-Unsubscribe: , ` **Current Limigation:** Engage Studio currently does not provide a built-in POST endpoint. Customers must manage their own with using 3rd party services until this functionality is released.
