The dashboards are provided to increase customer observability of the Real-Time System. The dashboard aims to impart better insight into the number of events the system has processed, errors that have occurred, and timing of event processing. Some of the metrics that the dashboard captures are as follows: * Number of events processed * Number of triggered activations fired, by activation type (Ie, Webhook, Streaming Egress) * Number of errors * Maximum time its take to process an event ## How to Access Your Dashboard During setup, Customer Support will request a list of email addresses that will be given access to the Datadog Dashboard. If you have one of the provided emails, you will receive an email from Datadog with the title `Your Private Dashboard Access Link`. In the email it will say something like ‘You can now view the dashboard “Real-Time Monitoring - Account [YOUR ACCOUNT NUMBER] ([YOUR COMPANY NAME])”. Verify that this information matches with your setup. ![](/assets/realtime-datadog-dashboard.049abdf8970429050a9b194f95da78216c2718495bb7af31e2c84718d0513cfe.cf3845cb.png) When clicking into the link, you will be prompted to enter your email address. If it is on the list of email addresses that have permission to view the dashboard, you will be redirected to a read-only view of the dashboard. If not, you will not be able to view the dashboard. Please contact customer support in this case. It is recommended to save the link you are redirected to in order to access the dashboard at a later time. You can also use the original email you were sent by Datadog to generate a new link to ace the dashboard, after confirming your email address again. ## How to Understand Your Dashboard The Real-Time Monitoring dashboard is broken down into different sections that focus on different parts of the Real-Time System. Currently, the sections are defined into Kinesis Metrics, Reactor Metrics, and Streaming Egress Activation Queue Metrics. ### Kinesis Metrics Kinesis Metrics refers to metrics relating to the Kinesis Event Streaming Service and pertains to incoming Real-Time events. The following metric is supported: * **Max Age** (Age of Oldest Message in Queue) * This represents the time the oldest Real-Time event in the queue has been waiting to be processed. This is relevant in order to demonstrate the longest period of time Real-Time events are waiting to be processed at a given point in time. It provides insight into if Real-Time events are being processed in a timely manner or if the system is backed up. ### Reactor Metrics Reactor Metrics refer to metrics relating to the Reactor Engine. The following metrics are supported: * **Number of Process Invocations** * This represents the number of times the reactor engine is invoked. This represents system activity volume. * **Number of Events Processed** * This represents the number of Real-Time events that have been processed by the reactor engine. * **Number of Webhook Activations Processed** * This represents the number of webhook activations sent out during a given period of time. * **Number of Webhook Activations Errors** * This represents the number of webhook activation errors that have occurred per reactor during a given period of time. ### Streaming Egress Activation Queue Metrics Streaming Egress Activation Queue Metrics refers to metrics that relate to non-webhook activations. The following metrics are supported: * **Number of Activations Processed** * This refers to the number of non-webhook activations that have been processed during a given period of time. * **Number of Activations Errors** * This refers to the number of errors raised relating to activations that are not a webhook during a given period of time. ## How to Filter Data In Your Dashboard The Real-Time Monitoring dashboards can be filtered in two ways: by time and reactor name. To filter by time, on the top right of the Datadog Dashboard UI, there is a dropdown to select the timeframe to view. Either a preset can be chosen, or you can select a date range from a calendar. Next to the dropdown, there are also UI buttons to rewind, pause, and forward the current time selected. ![](/assets/datadog-realtime-timeframe.172b9ee6046154872de807cdcd58bf71b309a129e29bcf141ff6ddd3a2a776fa.cf3845cb.png) To filter by reactor name, on the top left of the Datadog Dashboard UI, there is a dropdown to select the particular reactor the dashboard displays. By default, all reactors are shown. Selecting reactors within the dropdown will update the dashboard to show only information from the selected reactors. ![](/assets/reactor-instance.8d3ad792e1cd3a36bdcb19f854148f8cf371b4eb2a350359f373a05eb2c56839.cf3845cb.png) ## How to Request a New User Be Added or Removed from the Datadog Dashboard In order to modify who has access to your dashboard, please contact Customer Support with the list of email addresses and whether you would like these emails to be added or removed from the dashboard.
