# Creating a Realtime Decision Point

Within a journey stage, you can create a decision point to direct profiles down a personalized path. A personalized journey might be based on attributes like High LTV vs. Low LTV or behaviors like Opened Email Offer vs. not opened email offer.

## Limitations

* Each decision point can have a minimum of one path and a maximum of six paths.
* A decision point supports up to ten layers of decision points.


## Add a Real-time Decision Point

To avoid potential performance issues, limit the number of events in the Journey Canvas to approximately 34 when there are more than two layers of decision points in the journey.

1. Open TD Console
2. Navigate to **Audience Studio**.
3. Open a real-time journey.
4. Select a stage
5. In the left panel, select **Decision Point** and drag it to the Journey Canvas.

1. Select **Click to define decision point**.

Each decision point can have at least one condition and up to six conditions. There are a maximum of ten decision points per journey.

On the right side of the Journey Canvas, a modal window displays that allows you to change the number of conditions displayed. By default, two conditions are displayed. To create a single decision point, select 1 in the **Number of decision paths** in the dropdown (the excluded profile is automatically added).

The number of decision paths determines how many conditions you can add to your decision point.

# Add Conditions

1. Select the number of decision paths.
2. Include a condition to catch excluded profiles (recommended).
3. Select the first condition.

You can select real-time or batch attributes and batch behaviors, and drag-on rules.

1. Name your condition.

1. Select **Save decision condition**.


If profiles qualify for the first condition path, they will not continue to other paths.

# Prioritize a Condition

You can drag a condition into a different position to prioritize it above other conditions.

1. Select the plus sign and/or drag the condition up to move a condition.


If a profile qualifies for multiple decision points, TD Journey Orchestration moves it to one decision point—the highest personalized path.

1. Select **Save decision condition**.
2. Continue to add more conditions.
3. Click **Save as draft**.


## Exclude Profiles

Toggle the **Catch excluded profiles?** to manage your journey profiles. If you do not include the **Catch excluded profiles?** condition, and the profile does not meet any of the conditions; it does not progress further in the path. However, it can move to any following stage by meeting the entry criteria of the following stages.

# Add Additional Events

You can continue to add more events after your decision point. For example, you can add an activation and a wait step. You can add one more decision point to the current stage with up to 10 decision point layers.
