Creating a Batch Journey Activation

An activation will activate profiles under the following circumstances:

  • A journey workflow is run earlier than the activation workflow for the specified day.
  • The journey workflow runs successfully.

Activations are incremental. A profile will not receive the same activation more than one time unless the profile exits and then re-enters the journey.

Limitations

  • An activation that has run for the day is triggered again when the user changes the time zone on the activation (in a launched journey).
  • When creating a journey with 120 events, limit your activations to less than 50 for better performance.
  • You need limited and full access permissions for Activations/Activation Templates to activate, create, edit, and delete a journey.

Requirement

You must schedule a journey activation.

Create a Batch Activation

  1. Open TD Console.
  2. Navigate to Audience Studio.
  3. Navigate to a journey and open it.
  4. Select a stage.
  5. In the left panel, select Activations and drag it to the journey builder.

Alternately, select the plus sign at the end of the stage rule and select an event.

Enter Activation Details

Marketers might need to contact their data engineer to identify the correct activation. Data recommends using batch journey activation templates (if available) to create your activation. Learn more about Viewing and Using Activation Templates.

How Activations Work with Wait Steps

To learn more about wait steps, review Creating a Wait Step.

  • JOURNEY 1X: The profile receives an email on Day 1 and a text on Day 2. If you want the profile to receive an email on Day 1 and a text on Day 3, you must create a Wait Step of 2 days.
  • JOURNEY NEW CLIENT: The profile also receives communications from JOURNEY NEW CLIENT. The profile receives a text message on Day 1, no communication on Day 2, and an email on Day 3.
