# Creating a Householding Activation

Householding is available upon request. For more information, contact your Customer Success Representative.

When you create a householding hierarchy activation, you activate group attributes to downstream systems for campaign personalization. To create a batch segment activation for householding, you must have the following:

* A parent segment that has [group hierarchy](/products/customer-data-platform/data-workbench/parent-segments/about-parent-segments-that-support-hierarchical-grouping) enabled.
* A [batch segment](/products/customer-data-platform/audience-studio/segment/creating-a-batch-segment) with group attributes and group behaviors.


## Create an Activation

1. Open an existing batch segment.
2. Select the ellipses (...) next to **Edit segment rules**.
3. Select **Create activation**.
4. [Enter activation details](/products/customer-data-platform/audience-studio/activation/enter-activation-details).
5. Select **Output Mapping**.
6. Select a group attribute from the drop-down list.

1. Keep the default **Output Column Name** or rename it.
2. Select **Save** or, optionally, set a [schedule](/products/customer-data-platform/audience-studio/activation/schedule-an-activation) and a [nester workflow](/products/customer-data-platform/audience-studio/activation/nester-workflow-overview).
