# Customize Activation Output

Customizing the activation output is optional for attributes but necessary for [Behavior Activations](/products/customer-data-platform/audience-studio/activation/behavior-activation-overview). You can make changes with column mapping or by using the string builder.

1. Select **Output Mapping**.


Output fields must be configured to complete the activation creation.

1. Select **Export All Columns** to export all columns without making any changes.
2. In **Attribute Columns,** select **+ Add column** to add specific columns for the export. The available columns are displayed in the **Source** drop-down. The **Output Column Name** pre-populates with the same Source column name. You can change the Output Column Name.
3. If [Behavior Activation](/products/customer-data-platform/audience-studio/activation/behavior-activation-overview) is enabled, you can export behavior data columns. For details, see [Configuring Behavior Activation](/products/customer-data-platform/audience-studio/activation/configuring-behavior-activation).
4. Select String Builder to expand the fields. Learn how to use the [String Builder](/products/customer-data-platform/audience-studio/activation/create-new-strings-for-export-using-string-builder).
