# Define Sign in Settings

You can use sign-in settings to control user access methods to the TD Console.

1. Open the TD Console.
2. Select the gear icon at the bottom of the navigation bar.
3. Select Sign-in settings.
4. Validate your access by typing in your password.

## Define Password Configurations

1. Select the edit pen in Password Configuration.

1. Define your password policies using the information in the following table. Select **Save** when you are done.


- **Minimum length**: Passwords can be anywhere from 8 to 128 characters.
- **Complexity**: Define what sort of character requirements are necessary for a password.
  - No restrictions
  - Letters, numbers
  - Letters, numbers, special characters
  - Upper case, lower case
  - Upper case, lower case, letters, numbers, special characters
- **Password expiration**: Set a time limit for the validity of a password before you are asked to change it. For example, never, every 30 days, 1 year.
- **History kept**: Define how long to keep past password information. For example, never to 24 months.


## Define Sign-in Configuration

Define your sign-in policies using the information in the following table. Select **Save** when you are done.

- **Maximum invalid attempts**: Define the number of attempts a user can make at guessing their password. For example, 1 - 10.
- **User session timeout**: Define the amount of time that a user can be active in the system after their first login. For example, 12 - 672 hours.
