# Define Sign in Settings You can use sign-in settings to control user access methods to the TD Console. 1. Open the TD Console. 2. Select the gear icon at the bottom of the navigation bar. 3. Define your password policies using the information in the following table. Select **Save** when you are done. - **Minimum length**: Passwords can be anywhere from 8 to 128 characters. - **Complexity**: Define what sort of character requirements are necessary for a password. - No restrictions - Letters, numbers - Letters, numbers, special characters - Upper case, lower case - Upper case, lower case, letters, numbers, special characters - **Password expiration**: Set a time limit for the validity of a password before you are asked to change it. For example, never, every 30 days, 1 year. - **History kept**: Define how long to keep past password information. For example, never to 24 months. ## Define Sign-in Configuration Define your sign-in policies using the information in the following table. Select **Save** when you are done. - **Maximum invalid attempts**: Define the number of attempts a user can make at guessing their password. For example, 1 - 10. - **User session timeout**: Define the amount of time that a user can be active in the system after their first login. For example, 12 - 672 hours.
