Predictive Scoring and Folder Based Permission Overview

Folder-based permissions allow access to folders based on the permission type:

  • View permission: Allows users to view the information and content of an entity in the folder (for example, segment, funnel, predictive scoring).
  • Full Control and View permission: Allows users to view, create, update, and delete any entity in a folder. A user with Full Control permission for a parent folder can also create subfolders in the parent folder. By default, when Full Control is selected View permission is also selected. If you deselect the View permission, it affects the folders to which a user has access.

A user's ability to create a folder is different between Audience Studio (Legacy) and Audience Studio. In Audience Studio, individuals with Full Control permission can create subfolders. In Audience Studio (Legacy), only administrators can create folders.

Who can perform actions on a predictive scoring model is dependent on the folder that contains the predictive scoring model and the associated permissions for that folder. Each predictive scoring model starts with a parent segment and contains a training population, scoring target, and positive samples. All of these elements can affect access based on permissions.

By default, when Full Control permissions are assigned to a folder, a default of View permissions is also selected. We do not advise that you deselect the default. To help you understand the differences, the following table identifies Full Control with View permissions and Full Control without View Permissions.

ActionFull Control and View PermissionsView Permission
Create a Predictive Scoring ModelAllowed only if the user has access to all three of the selected segments based on the following conditions:

Training Population
• Permission to access All Profiles in a Parent Segment
OR
• Permission for the folder that contains Batch Segments

Scoring Target
• Permission to All Profiles in Parent Segment
OR
• Permission for the folder that contains Batch Segments

Positive Samples
• Permission for the folder that contains Batch Segments
Not allowed. The user can attempt to make changes but cannot save those changes.
Edit Predictive Scoring Model detailsAllowed only if three of the selected segments satisfy the following conditions:

Training Population
• Permission to access All Profiles in a Parent Segment
OR
• Permission for the folder that contains Batch Segments

Scoring Target
• Permission to All Profiles in Parent Segment
OR
• Permission for the folder that contains Batch Segments

Positive Samples
• Permission for the folder that contains Batch Segments
Not allowed. The user can attempt to make changes but cannot save those changes.
Delete Predictive Scoring ModelAllowedNot allowed
Duplicate (Copy) Predictive Scoring ModelAllowedNot allowed because a duplicated Predictive Scoring Model is created under the same folder, to which the user does not have edit privilege.
Suggest Predictive FeaturesAllowed as long as the user has View+ permission for Positive Samples. Not applicable
Manually Customize Predictive FeaturesAllowed; edit and save. The user can make changes but cannot save those changes.
(Re-)Train Predictive Scoring ModelAllowed only if a user has View+ permission to all of Training Population, Scoring Target, and Positive Samples. Not allowed
Tab: Model performanceViewable for all charts as long as the Predictive Scoring Model is trained. In the Model Performance tab, the user needs permission to access workflows for the parent segment in order to view the status of predictive score training.Same as Full Control and View Permissions
Tab: Model details• Viewable
• Segment name/link must be hidden if a user doesn't have View+ permission to a folder the segment belongs to:
  - Training Population
  - Scoring Target
  - Positive Samples
Same as Full Control and View Permissions
Tab: Predictive scores• Viewable all charts
• The list of individual profiles is shown only if the user has Full Access permission for the Audience Studio OR Full Control for all Segment Folders of the corresponding Parent Segment.
• Viewable all charts
Save scoring threshold fails because it updates (edits) the Predictive Scoring Model itself.
• The list of individual profiles must be hidden
Score profiles - Parent Segment rerunIrrelevant as it depends on Parent Segment privilege. For more information, see Folder-based Permissions.Same as Full Control and View Permissions
