Previewing data is a way to see what the representative data might look like. The Preview feature shows a subset of possible data that the data connector can fetch from the source. Preview data is different from the actual data that is collected and stored within Treasure Data. Data preview does not represent your final data as it will exist in Treasure Data.
For certain source integrations, Treasure Data must first guess the data schema because the data is not predefined. For example, Amazon S3 and SFTP data connectors.
To get the data back in reasonable time, the preview data might not follow the parameters that you specified.
You might encounter situations in which there are no records to preview:
There is no data to preview for the data criteria specified
The API takes too long and times out and Treasure Data can’t fetch the preview data
To preview your data
Open TD Console.
Navigate to Integrations Hub > Sources.
Select the connection for which you want to preview the data.
Select the ellipsis.
Select Next to get to Data Preview.
Select Generate Preview.
A preview of your data is generated and displayed. The data is only a representation of the actual data that might be collected. For example, our test data preview retrieved:
