This is a summary of new features and improvements introduced in the July 1st, 2017 release. If you have any product feature request, please file it at feedback.treasuredata.com.

Table of Contents

Presto: Resource Pools

Resource Pools allow customers to break up their available resources for distinct purposes, or between teams. Often key use cases include:

  • Preventing regularly scheduled, large, queries from consuming your full account’s resources, causing queuing that prevents your analysts from being fully productive during the work day
  • Ensuring SLA critical queries are not impacted by less important queries, by dedicating a set of resources to these queries
  • Managing competing resource consumption between teams

Please reach out to support or your account representative for access to this feature. You can learn more in our documentation.

Presto: DataTank Querying

DataTank – Treasure Data’s hosted PostgreSQL instances – can now be queried from Presto, within the TD Console. This querying allows for the majority of both data management (e.g. table creation) & SELECT query operations directly from Treasure Data’s console, via a Presto query.

Please reach out to support or your account representative for access to this feature. You can learn more in our Data Tank Querying from Presto documentation.

Hive: Backported Functions

Currently Treasure Data uses Hive v0.13, but there are many useful functions added since Apache Hive v0.13.0. We’ve backported functions listed in the document below for the customers.

Presto, Hive: Max Job Queue Depth Increased from 96 to 256

Now all customers can queueu up to 256 Presto and Hive jobs in maximum, which is increased from 96. This will reduce the frequency of the error, when jobs are issued in parallel at the same time.

Output: Result Output to Twitter Tailored Audience

Now you can export Treasure Data’s query result into Twitter Tailored Audiences, and run personalized ad campaign for Twitter users.

Client: Java Client Library v0.7.37

td-client-java v0.7.37 was released. This includes a couple of bug fixes and new improvements.

Private Availability

Presto: DELETE Query Support (Private Alpha)

We are releasing in Private Alpha availability of our Presto DELETE statement. This capability allows users to utilizing general DELETE statement, for deleting rows of data based most on any set of conditions.

Please reach out to your account representative, or support, for early access to this feature. Please see our DELETE query documentation for more details.

Presto: Version Upgrade to v0.178

We are most of the way completed with a version upgrade to v0.178. All U.S. & international customers have been upgraded this week, with remaining customers to be upgraded on July 5th.

Please note that we have not enabled the lambda function capability enabled with this release, due to bugs we’ve heard reported causing instability of Presto Clusters from the Presto community.

Hive: Resource Pools (Private Beta)

Resource Pools for Hive is also expected for full release by the end of July. If you’re an administrator and interested in trying the feature, please contact product@treasure-data.com.

BI: Domo Connector (Private Alpha)

Domo has built a native connector to talk with Treasure Data. Currently this is only available for limited user base. If you’re an administrator and interested in trying the feature, please contact product@treasure-data.com.
