Presto ODBC Connection

We provide a Presto API that can integrate directly with our Presto-specific ODBC driver. The installer for the driver is currently available only for Windows 64-bit platforms.

Release Notes

  • 2017-09-15 Fixes TDC file to avoid an issue when unicode characters are used in column aliases.
  • 2017-08-22 Updated Tableau TDC file. Overwriting existing TDC file is recommended for every Tableau users to suppress unnecessary queries.

Windows System Requirements

Migration from Treasure Data ODBC Driver for 32bit

Treasure Data ODBC Driver for 32bit is no longer supported. Please replace it with Presto ODBC Driver according to the instruction below. Old driver will be no longer work from June 6, 2017.

Installing the Driver on Windows (64-bit)

  1. Download the ODBC driver installer TreasureDataPrestoODBC.msi
  2. Double click on the installer package and follow the on-screen instructions
  3. Open the Start menu (or press the Windows key) and search/select ‘ODBC Data Source Administrator (64-bit)’
  4. Select Treasure Data Presto ODBC DSN, and press Configure button:

ODBC Data Source Administrator (64-bit) 5. Enter your Master TD API key into the User field (please follow these instructions to obtain your Master TD API key)

ODBC Data Source Administrator (64-bit)

  • Authentication Type: No Authentication
  • Host:
  • Port: 443
  • Catalog: td-presto

  • Click Test button and if successful, press OK

Using Presto ODBC with Tableau Desktop

Upon completion of all the above steps, please use the following steps to connect Tableau Desktop to TD:

  1. Download the Treasure Data Presto ODBC Driver.tdc file into your Tableau installation folder. By default it’s in My Documents\My Tableau Repositories\Data Sources.
  2. Open Tableau Desktop and choose Other Databases (ODBC):

Tableau_TD_1 3. Connect using DSN and choose Treasure Data Presto ODBC DSN. Click Connect; a connection request will be processed. There will be no prompt. Just click on Sign In.

Tableau_TD_2 4. A new book will open with Treasure Data as a connection. Choose, td-presto in the Database dropdown:

Tableau_TD_3 5. A new drop down, Schema, will appear. This refers to a database in Treasure Data. Provide a name and search (press Enter or click Search icon) or just search and choose from the list:

Tableau_TD_4 6. A new drop down, Table, will appear. This refers to a table in the schema chosen above. Provide a name and search (press Enter or click Search icon) or just search to see the list of available tables:

Tableau_TD_5 7. Drag a table to the area on the right to see the table structure:

Tableau_TD_6 8. Now, you can open a new sheet and use the new table to create charts:
